Hi World!

I'M CRAIG PRIMAS

As a fine art landscape photographer, I strive to capture iconic images of non-iconic places. I call my style “intimate imagery”, and is aimed to bring the viewer to the place, time and conditions that I personally experienced when I snapped my shutter. All photographic formats, be they film or digital, are in my tool bag. Using large format gear, I usually print large to help convey the sense of scale of the places I have been.
                                                                                                      
I am based in Las Vegas, Nevada and Duck Creek Village, Utah. Among the locations that I have considerable portfolios are: The Enchantments (Cascade Mountains, Washington), Southern Utah (Cedar Mountain, Zion NP, Bryce NP, Cedar Breaks NM, Canyonlands NP, Arches NP, Dead Horse SP), Grand Canyon NP, Arizona, Missouri Ozarks, Maine and Eastern New Hampshire, Colorado, Grand Teton National Park, Baja California Sur, Italy, Switzerland, Ireland, among others.
Most of my sales are from custom print designs for personal residences, businesses and resort properties. Media that my images have been printed on include canvas, tumbled marble and ceramic tiles, glass, Lumachrome Acrylics, high-gloss photo paper, posters, back-lit film and as billboards. Inspiration

The natural world inspires me. Water, wind, wood and wildlife fuels my motivation.. I envision myself at non-iconic locations much as our ancestors must have before iconic locations were so.

Techniques

My photographic tools are selected to optimize the Images I capture. Digital and film cameras are used. Many film/digital formats are employed: 35mm, 645, 6x7, 6x17, 4x5; even my hi-res smart phone is used for snap-shots. 

career PATH

I have been shooting photos for over 42 years, 20 professionally. I am also a professional civil engineer, semi-retired, so my approach is somewhat artistically technical. I consider myself intellectually ambidextrous.
